Schedule: Monday-Friday, Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in office)

Responsibilities:

Program Regulatory, Compliance and Efficiency

  • Lead and take primary responsibility for site inspections and audits by certifying bodies (i.e., R2v3, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) for Canadian corporate locations, collection sites, and recycling partners, including transporters, consolidators, processing facilities, in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards
  • Develop and maintain the Integrated Management system (IMS)
  • Ensure the organization's internal documentation is current and compliant with the standards
  • Ensure the organization’s service providers, including transporters, consolidators, and processors have appropriate certifications and safety programs for the compliant collection, transportation and recycling of batteries and monitor their compliance against such standards and certifications
  • Develop, obtain, and maintain Canadian regulatory approvals and amendments relative to the Company’s programs including but not limited to a Permit of Equivalent Level of Environmental Safety (PELES) and Equivalency Certificates
  • Coordinate and support internally all Program Directors and Account Managers with any related Provincial or Federal Audits and compliance reporting
  • Work with the stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and work towards implementing a solution following a PDCA methodology

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Transport Canada (TC), Environment Canada (EC), Provincial environmental and transportation ministries and other Canadian regulatory bodies as required
  • Serve as a primary liaison and point of contact for customers and other stakeholders on operational and compliance issues

Other Duties

  • Develop work instructions, SOP’s and other support materials necessary
  • Continue to build and develop a data-driven strategy and culture that encompasses use of data analytics platform to transform, scrub and analyze large sets of data to produce meaningful and actionable insights
  • Serve as a back-up for the Operations Manager as well as a backup for the Director of Compliance and Operations when needed

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field or equivalent experience;
  • Experience with ISO and R2v3 standards is a must
  • Previous experience with developing and implementing IMS is an asset
  • Three years’ experience with Transportation of Dangerous Good (TDG) in North America;
  • Bilingual (French) is a strong asset;
